Francesco Stefanelli, born in 1999 in San Marino, has demonstrated an extraordinary passion and dedication to classical music since the age of seven. Numerous successes and prestigious awards have marked his musical career. Recent winner of the competition for First Cello of the Verona Arena Foundation Orchestra, is currently a member of the Adorno Quartet.

Winner of numerous awards in international competitions such as:

III prize 50th International Jeunesses Musicales Belgrade for cello
III prize at the Rahn Music Prize in Zurich for cello
First prize at the Antonio Janigro competition in Croatia, first Italian winner of the up to 20 years category
1st Prize at the Reate Festival 3rd International Contemporary Music Interpretation Competition
“Tartini Prize” at the second edition of the Claudio Scimone International Prize of Padua
The “Maura Giorgetti” award from the Filarmonica della Scala as the best young Italian cellist
1st Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe Scholarship Award
1st AFR Contest Prize of the Roman Philharmonic Academy
1st Absolute prize for strings in the City of Giussano Competition

He has performed in many cities and theaters such as Belgrade Koralac Foundation Hall with the Serbian Radio and Television Symphony Orchestra, Prague Smetana Hall with the North Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, Cologne Roncalliplatz with the WDR Sinfonieorchester Köln, Kracovia Florianka Hall with the Chamber Orchestra of Academy of Music, Jesi, Osimo, Fabriano, Macerata with the Marchigiana Philharmonic Orchestra, Padua with the Solisti Veneti.

He has been a guest as a soloist and in a duo with piano at important festivals such as Unione Musicale di Turin, Pesaro Concert Authority, Malatestiana Music Festival, Friends of Music Florence, Friends of Music Padua, Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival in Lübeck, Camerata Viotti in Vercelli, Oratorio del Banner in Rome, Roman Philharmonic Academy, IUC La Sapienza Rome, Piatti Festival, Soloists of
Pavia, Boccadoro Foundation of Lugano, Friends of Music of Verona, Ceresio Estate, Onde Musicali Zone, Associazione il Timbro Torino.

He has recorded as a soloist with the “I Virtuosi Italiani” Orchestra for Da Vinci Classics.

Having graduated at just 15 years old, he was admitted at a very young age to the Master of Arts in Music Performance at the
Conservatory of Italian Switzerland in Lugano in Enrico Dindo’s class. He recently graduated from the National Academy of Santa Cecilia in Rome with Giovanni Sollima. He currently studies at the Escuela Superior de Musica Reina Sofia in Madrid with Jens Peter Maintz thanks to the Fundación Albéniz. He attended masterclasses with Enrico Dindo, Antonio Meneses, Fran Helmerson, Thomas Demenga, Ivan Monighetti, Marianne Chen, Alban Gerhardt, W.E. Schmidt, Young-Chang Cho, Asier Polo.

He has received scholarships from the Swiss Government “ESKAS for Excellence”, De Sono Association for Music of Turin, Academy of Music of Liechtenstein, Fund for Excellence San Marino, SUMS San Marino.

He plays an 18th-century Venetian school instrument.
